2023 Memorial Tournament

PGA Tour

Muirfield Village Golf Club
Dublin, Ohio, USA
1-4 June 2023

Patrick Cantlay will be keen to equal Kenny Perry's achievement of three Memorial Tournament titles when he tees off at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.

What to know about Cantlay

The American star will be making his seventh start at the Memorial Tournament and he is level with Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin, Greg Norman and Tom Watson in terms of titles having each won two trophies.

Cantlay has been one of the game’s standout players over the past two-plus years - winning the FedEx Cup Champion and PGA Tour Player of the Year in 2021, before clinching the BMW Championship and Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2022.

Latest News

The 2011 Jack Nicklaus Award winner took part in the 2023 PGA Championship where he achieved a top 10 finish - finishing ninth, but he was absent from the recent 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Cantlay, who represented the United States at the 2011 Walker Cup, where he posted a 2–1–1 record, is currently placed fourth on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

Why Cantlay is one of the favourites

The former UCLA Bruin has won the Memorial Tournament twice - clinching the trophy in 2019 by two strokes ahead of Adam Scott before winning it again in 2021 following a battle with Collin Morikawa in a playoff.

Cantlay’s Memorial Tournament scoring average of 69.96 ranks first and his career Tournament earnings of $4,542,016 is second all-time behind five-time winner Tiger Woods.

Quotes

"I think you have to be really patient and I think you have to be aware of not falling asleep out there," Cantlay said after winning the Memorial Tournament for the second time in 2021.

"I think you have to really even tell yourself, 'Click back in, this is what we're trying to do' and get really specific with clicking back in and telling your computer what you're really trying to get it to do.

"We're out there for such a long time today that you could fall asleep at the wheel a little bit. So being cognizant of that and checking in with yourself, are you as focused as you can be, when you need to be, I think is key."
