Harry Konig will look to keep up his momentum when the Betway Big Easy Tour 3 event is held at the iconic Wanderers Golf Club in Johannesburg this week.
Konig won the Betway Big Easy Tour 2, and will now turn his attention to the challenge awaiting him in ‘The City of Gold’ on June 2-4, a 54-hole stroke play event carrying a prize fund of R150,000.
"Last year I secured my Sun Shine Tour tour card pretty early on in the season after winning twice on The Betway Big Easy Tour," Harry Konig said on his official Instagram page.
"Then, almost seven months ago I had a moped accident and totally ruptured my ankle, broke my leg, got nercrosis in a wound as well as some other complications. I was on crutches for 3 and a half months and had two operations.
"I am now back playing golf in the last month on a buggy and can’t wait to play again on The Sunshine Tour. Every day is different at the moment. Some days my game is pretty good, my foot feels ok and that I’m close to being able to compete again, and some days I can barely walk."
The challengers to Konig include Joe Sullivan, the current Order of Merit leader and recent winner of the Blue Label Unlimited Invitational, who is a consistent performer and one of the strongest names in the field.
Tyrone Ryan is also an experienced campaigner and multiple-time Big Easy Tour winner looking to add to his tally, while Jacques van der Merwe has already put up strong performances this season and is always a threat.
