Co-hosts Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina will lock horns in the 2026 World Cup Group B match on 12 June.

Head-to-head
Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina have never met before in any official or friendly match.

This will be their first-ever encounter, making the 2026 World Cup Group B opener completely fresh for both sides.

Bosnia return to the tournament for the first time since 2014, while Canada look to make history as co-hosts on home soil.

Team news
Canada, who are managed by Jesse Marsch, have several players returning from long-term injuries, including Moïse Bombito (broken leg) and Derek Cornelius (hamstring).

Captain Alphonso Davies is also back in the squad after a recent hamstring issue but is unlikely to start the opener.

Meanwhile, Sergej Barbarez's Bosnia and Herzegovina will miss centre-back Adrian Leon Barišić due to injury.

Veteran captain Edin Džeko is fully fit and back leading the line after a minor shoulder concern earlier in the year.

Key Players
Alphonso Davies is Canada’s biggest threat and his explosive pace, dribbling and attacking runs from left-back make him a constant danger.

The Bayern Munich star's leadership and quality will be vital if Canada are to make history on home soil.

Edin Džeko, on the other hand, is Bosnia's 40-year-old striker and all-time leading scorer.

A clinical finisher with great hold-up play and experience, the FC Schalke player can trouble any defence when on form and will be key to Bosnia’s chances.

Quotes
“I have a lot of respect for what Bosnia has achieved, what those players have been through, and I’m happy for them to be at the World Cup. I know we’re in for a really difficult first match," said Canada head coach Jesse Marsch about Bosnia.

“It’s a hard team... Edin Džeko dedicated [qualifying] to his group of friends that were killed in a bombing when he was young. These kids grew up in a war-torn country, and a lot of them were lucky to escape.

“Bosnia being the second tallest team in the tournament. I think from a set piece perspective, it’ll be a good challenge for us.”
