Much of the 2026 24H Le Mans spectacle will focus on defending champions AF Corse this year, with 2025 winner Phil Hanson in high spirits ahead of the demanding Circuit de la Sarthe schedule.
The Ferrari-supplemented AF Corse team entered in 2025 privately and raced to victory through stars such as Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Hanson.
In turn, AF Corse made history as the first customer team to win the 24H Le Mans race in 19 years as Ferrari claimed its 12th Le Mans victory overall.
Powered by Ferrari’s F163CG 3.0L Turbo V6 engine, AF Corse completed 387 laps with a time of 24:02:53.332, +14.084 seconds ahead of Porsche Penske Motorsport, spearheaded by drivers Matt Campbell, Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor.
Speaking ahead of the test day, Hanson expressed that his team will prepare in their own way as he looks to represent Ferrari with excitement once more.
“In the approach, nothing is different, you prepare like any race, but when you come back, it's special and it brings back all the special memories - they all come flooding back,” Hanson said.
“Le Mans is the highlight of the year regardless of what happened 12 months ago, and it's a race I always look forward to. It’s a privilege to represent a brand such as Ferrari - with the history it has.
“The Tifosi travel the globe, and no matter where you are in the world, the pressure is there, but the support is always incredible to go with it, and you really feel that here at Le Mans - and that is special as a driver.”
