After claiming the 2025 Women’s Wimbledon title, Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek remains a serial winner on all surfaces and will now look to join history by potentially defending the coveted crown.
In following the likes of Venus Williams, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf, Swiatek could become only the sixth women’s player to successfully defend the Wimbledon trophy.
With 25 career WTA singles titles to her name, Swiatek will head into the tournament as the third-ranked women’s player in the world on 6733 points.
As major successes, Swiatek claimed six Grand Slam titles so far, four of which came at the French Open in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Her relentless run in top-level tennis is summed up by nine WTA 1000 title victories, all of which was obtained between 2021 and 2024.
However, in the 25-year-old’s most recent outing, Swiatek was stopped in the fourth round at the 2026 French Open in May, where she suffered a 5-7, 1-6 loss against Marta Kostyuk.
In the face of adversity Swiatek believes that defeat won't set the tone for her upcoming aspirations and that she will face negative results with a humble attitude.
"I know that changes will not give immediate results, and I try to believe that I am on the right path to improve my tennis,” Swiatek said.
“Defeat should not define me. Of course, these are not pleasant things, and the fans are probably deeply affected by my defeats, but I know the challenges I face; I have to be humble in front of this sport.
“Tennis is not easy and tests the players practically every week. For me, the only thing that matters is the overview," she concluded.
