World no. 8 Wyndham Clark heads to the Travelers Championship on top of the world after his victory at the US Open.
The American became only the third consecutive champion at Shinnecock Hills after he carded a 4-under 276 to beat Sam Burns by one stroke.
Clark equalled Retief Goosen's lowest score on the famed golf course in New York and was the first player in 12 years to lead after every round.
It was the 32-year-old's second win of 2026 after he triumphed at the Byron Nelson last month, and his fifth career success on the PGA Tour.
Clark's only other top-10 finish came at the Memorial Tournament, while he only managed a T21 at the Masters and missed the cut at the PGA Championship.
The two-time US Open winner received a hostile reception from the crowd, who jeered him at every opportunity and reserved their cheers for playing partner Scottie Scheffler.
"Man, they definitely didn't want me to win," Clark said. "It's pretty rare in an Open Championship or a major to have fans kind of boo against your shots or cheer for bad shots.
"I was kind of making jokes about it with (his caddie) Dave [Pelakoudis] where if we heard someone cheer for me, I'd go, 'Oh, there's one person that likes me.'
"The first one (US Open victory in 2023) was kind of just the breakthrough of knowing I can do it, and then this one was a lot of redemption.
"Last year was so tough, a terrible year. I left in shambles, and it's amazing what a year can do. I'm leaving here this Sunday as a champion, and I'm just so blessed."
