Juventus v Spezia

2020-21 Serie A, Round 25

2 March 2021
Allianz Stadium, Turin
Kick-off: 20:45

Juventus will chase key home points in the Serie A title race when they welcome Spezia to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Tuesday 2 March, kick-off at 20:45. The match is one of 10 for Round 25 of Italy’s top flight, spread over the midweek of 2-4 March 2021.

Juve come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Hellas Veron this past weekend, with the champions opening the scoring early in the second half through Cristiano Ronaldo, only to concede an equaliser to Antonin Barak. The Bianconeri have won just one of their last five games across all competitions and are in danger of falling away in the title race.

Juve midfielder Federico Chiesa says the team still believes they can top the log come the end of the season: “It’s true we are missing important players, and others that aren’t at their best, but we are Juve and that must not be an alibi. Full stop. Now we have to focus on Tuesday’s game, because we still believe in the Scudetto.”

Spezia, meanwhile, showed great fighting spirit to come from two down and claim a 2-2 draw at home to Parma this past weekend, with Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Gyasi netting both of their goals in the second half. The result means the Aquilotti remained well clear of the relegation zone.

However, coach Vincenzo Italiano is taking nothing for granted: “I know full well what can happen in Serie A, because I twice as a player was relegated with 39 points, having managed a wonderful first half to the season. So don’t tell me Spezia are safe with 25 points and I can assure you my players will always be concentrated to the end.”

In head-to-head terms, Juve and Spezia have met in three matches across all competitions since 2007. The Bianconeri and Aquilotti have both claimed one win, while one game has been drawn.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Orogel Stadium-Dino Manuzzi in Cesena, Juve claimed a 4-1 away win thanks to goals from Alvaro Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo (two) and Adrien Rabiot.
