Scottie Scheffler will be determined to become the first golfer to win back to back Arnold Palmer Invitational titles since 2015.

What to know about Scheffler

The American star hit the ground running after turning professional in 2019 as he won the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards in the same year.

In 2020, Scheffler finished tied for fourth at the 2020 PGA Championship and he went on to win the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

The talented golfer has since become one of the best golfers in the world having won seven professional tournaments including five PGA titles.

Latest News

Scheffler finished 12th in the last PGA Tour tournament he featured in, which was the Genesis Invitational with his rival Jon Rahm winning the event on 20 February 2023.

Therefore, the 2021-22 PGA Tour leading money winner slipped down to the second spot on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) as Rahm leapfrogged him.

Why Scheffler is among favourites

Scheffler will be returning to the Bay Hill Club and Lodge where he won the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational and he will be familiar with the venue.

The Texas-based golfer won by one stroke over Viktor Hovland, Billy Horschel and Tyrrell Hatton and it was his second PGA Tour title.

Scheffler will be eager to reclaim the OGWR top spot by winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational with Rahm set to take part in the tournament.

Quotes

“It feels great to be able to win here,” Scheffler said after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

“To be completely honest with you, right now I’m exhausted. This course is a total beatdown trying to play. I’m very pleased I didn’t have to play any extra holes today.

“This course is a total beat-down. I’m usually pretty competitive, so when the conditions get really tough and the field gets really good, I get excited.”
