Oklahoma City Thunder will continue the fight for top spot in the Western Conference when they welcome Phoenix Suns to the Paycom Center on the morning of Saturday, March 30.

The Thunder are locked in a fierce battle with Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves to qualify as the top seed for the playoffs in the West.

Mark Daigneault's team have the third-best record in the NBA this season (49-21) and they are one game behind the Nuggets in second place after going down 118-83 to Milwaukee Bucks on March 25.

The defeat to the Bucks halted a three-game winning streak for Oklahoma City, who posted their lowest total of the season, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring just 12 points.

"They had him in a crowd for much of the night and made it very difficult for him to get his cracks," Daigneault said. "I thought as a team, just our overall pace and sharpness on offense wasn't where it needed to be."

The Suns are still in with a shout of qualifying automatically for the playoffs after winning six of their last 10 games to sit eighth in the Western Conference.

Frank Vogel's team saw a three-game winning sequence come to an end with a narrow 104-102 loss to San Antonio Spurs on March 26 which left them a half-game behind Sacramento Kings (6th).

Phoenix had routed the Spurs 131-106 just two days earlier, although they were without Victor Wembanyama for the second game and lost despite Devin Booker scoring a game-high 36 points.

"It's unacceptable to lose that game for our guys," Vogel said. "We all said the right things, we all did the right preparation to come in, but we didn't play with the necessary focus and disposition throughout I would say the first half.

"You give a team like that life and that's how the NBA works... With Victor out, those guys played really well."
