Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle wants to see a greater desire from his players when they take on Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center on the morning of Saturday, March 23.
The Pacers (7th) are fighting it out with Philadelphia 76ers (6th) and Miami Heat (8th) for the final place in the
NBA Eastern Conference top six as the regular season reaches its climax.
Carlisle's team find themselves a half-game behind the Sixers after slipping to a 108-103 defeat to Cleveland Cavaliers on March 19 - their second loss in three games.
Pascal Siakam led the scoring for Indiana with 19 points against the Cavs, but they blew a 15-point lead midway through the second quarter after not getting any buckets for almost four minutes.
Carlisle has urged his players to remain upbeat down the stretch as they look to qualify automatically for the playoffs.
"We did some good things to fight out of the hole," Carlisle said. "But consistency wasn't there. It's a tough loss.
"We've got to stay positive. We've got to be more hungry than everybody we're playing right now."
The Warriors (10th) might have to settle for the play-in tournament as they are four games behind Sacramento Kings, who are just about holding onto sixth place themselves ahead of Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.
Steve Kerr's team have lost six of their last eight games, the most recent of which came on March 19 when they went down 119-112 to the New York Knicks.
Stephen Curry scored 27 points against the Knicks, but Indiana trailed the entire game and the closest they got was within four points in the fourth quarter.
"Just one of those nights where we didn't really get anything going from that starting group," Kerr said. "They've been really good but it just felt like from the very beginning we were swimming upstream.
"I think it was 15-4 out of the gate and we didn't once have the lead in the game. We made a good comeback, but I just didn't think we were disciplined enough throughout the game to earn the win."
