Scheffler has won one major championship, the 2022 Masters Tournament and he is the only player to win The Players Championship in back-to-back years (2023 and 2024).

The 2022/23 Byron Nelson Award winner finished second at the 2021 Houston Open behind champion Jason Kokrak who shot a final round 65 to win by two strokes.
Scheffler is coming into this year's Houston Open in top form having shot an 8-under 64 in the final round to overcome a five-shot deficit, matching the largest comeback by a Players Championship winner at TPC Sawgrass.

"It’s tough enough to win one Players, so to have it back-to-back is extremely special. Mentally it can be very taxing. Physically it’s fairly taxing, as well, but mentally it’s a lot of fun being in the final groups,
"But it also takes a toll on your body and your mind. “So, yeah, there’s definitely a big mental aspect to that. But that’s the most fun. The most fun you can have on a golf course is being in contention.”
