2021/22 English FA Cup

Final

Chelsea v Liverpool

London, England

Kick-off is at 16h45

Chelsea and Liverpool will contest the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, May 14, in what is a repeat of the EFL Cup final three months ago.

The Reds came out on top on that occasion after beating the Blues 11-10 on penalties at the same venue back in February, with the clash having finished goalless at the end of 120 minutes.

Their two Premier League encounters this season also ended in stalemates following a 1-1 draw at Anfield in August and a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in January.

The west Londoners beat Chesterfield, Plymouth, Luton, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace to reach their 16th final, having won the trophy eight times - most recently in 2018 when they triumphed 1-0 over Manchester United.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who opened the scoring against the Eagles in the last-four to register his first Chelsea goal in nearly three years, is eyeing revenge under the arch.

"We want to get them back, it's as simple as that. It was a fantastic game in the other final, it could have gone either way, so we look forward to that and look forward to getting our revenge," Loftus-Cheek said.

"I always want to win trophies and I always want to be a big part of it as well. I feel like I've played a lot in this FA Cup run, who knows what will happen in the final, but I will be ready for it."

The Merseysiders eliminated Shrewsbury, Cardiff, Norwich, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City en-route to their 15th final - a first since they lost 2-1 to Chelsea 10 years ago.

Alisson made a few crucial saves against City in the semi-finals to keep the Reds' quadruple bid alive and the Brazilian goalkeeper cannot wait to make his first appearance in the final of the world's oldest football competition.

"Football is about that as well, creating memories, and it's fantastic when you can achieve your targets and when you can win trophies," Alisson said.

"It's what we are trying to do every day [by] preparing ourselves to be the best as possible, the best we can to be on the pitch for this great club to make Liverpool FC winning, winning, winning all the time and winning all the trophies we have in front of us. We are really focused on that."
