Sahith Theegala will be targeting his first victory of the 2024 PGA Tour season when he competes in the
Canadian Open.
What to know about Theegala
The American golfer of Indian descent turned professional in 2020 and he was a three-time NCAA All-American at Pepperdine University.
Theegala has won two professional tournaments including one PGA Tour event and his best performance in a golf major is ninth place at the 2023 Masters.

The 2020 Jack Nicklaus Award winner took a short break from competitive golf after competing in the 2024 PGA Championship where he finished 12th.
Theegala is currently ranked 12th on the Official World Golf Rankings and it is also his best OWGR ranking.
Why Theegala is among the favourites
The 26-year-old is the second-highest-ranked player on the OWGR among those set to compete in the 2024 Canadian Open after Rory McIlroy.
Theegala, who earned his first official PGA Tour victory at the 2023 Fortinet Championship, narrowly missed out on the 2024 RBC Heritage title as he finished second.

“It’s got to be annoying for some of the guys, but I love it," Theegala said when asked how he feels about finishing second behind the dominant Scottie Scheffler at 2024 RBC Heritage.
"I still think I have a way to go to really prove myself that I am, I would say, a top-15,-10 player in the world. I haven’t gotten to that point quite yet.
“I’m not annoyed, I’m just kind of sitting back, and it’s honestly really cool to see. It gives us something to strive for.”
