Real Madrid will be looking to give Carlo Ancelotti a winning send-off in front of their home fans against Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu on the final weekend of the
La Liga season on Saturday, May 24.
Ancelotti will leave the Spanish giants after their final match to take over the reins of the Brazil national team, bringing an end to a successful four-year tenure which delivered them two La Liga, one Copa del Rey and two UEFA Champions League titles.
Los Blancos were dethroned by Barcelona this term, with a 4-3 defeat in Catalonia on May 11 effectively ending their hopes of defending their crown.
Ancelotti's side bounced back to record successive victories over Real Mallorca (2-1) and Sevilla (2-0) to ensure they would finish in the runners-up spot ahead of neighbours Atletico Madrid, who are seven points back in third place.
La Real could still secure a top-10 position after they arrested a six-match winless run with a 3-2 triumph over Girona on May 18.
Real Mallorca's loss to Getafe last time out opened the door for Imanol Alguacil's side to pip them to 10th place, although Valencia are also in the frame a further point back in 12th spot.
Ancelotti handed a start to Jacobo Ramon against the Palanganas, while fellow Castilla team-mates Victor Munoz and Gonzalo Garcia came off the bench, and the Italian believes the future is bright for Real after seeing Raul Asencio impress during the campaign.
"There are very good examples, who have been here for many years, like [Dani] Carvajal, Nacho or Lucas Vazquez. You have to fight, struggle and have the dream of one day playing for Real Madrid," he said.
"Those who have made their debuts this year have done very well. Asencio above all, who has played a lot of games. The others haven't played a lot, but Gonzalo, Victor and Jacobo are doing very well for Castilla. Raul has done a great job this year. They're very close to being able to help the first team."
Alguacil, who will also vacate his role at the Reale Arena in the coming weeks, was given a fitting farewell in Sociedad's final home game against Girona, and goalkeeper Alex Remiro paid tribute to the head coach.
"We managed to win and give Imanol the send-off he truly deserves. He's an exceptional coach, and we've been lucky to have him here all these years," Remiro said.
"We'll miss him, for better or worse. He knows how to bring out the best in his players. You just had to listen and trust him."
