The
Serie A title is still very much up for grabs as Inter Milan make the short trip north to face Lombardy rivals Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in the final round of the season on Friday, May 23.
The Nerazzurri trail league leaders Napoli by a single point in second place with one fixture remaining after being held to a 2-2 draw by Lazio on May 18.
The Partenopei also picked up a point last time out in a goalless draw with Parma to leave the door open for Simone Inzaghi's side to retain the Scudetto.
Inter have only kept two clean sheets in their last five games (a 1-0 win over Verona and a 2-0 win over Torino), conceding four goals in the process and losing twice, although they are now unbeaten in three.
The Biancoblu have performed above expectations this term following their promotion 12 months ago and they are guaranteed a top-10 finish are recording 13 wins.
Cesc Fabregas' side saw a six-match winning streak come to an end with a 1-1 draw at Verona on May 18, but they have a comfortable five-point cushion to Torino (11th) and Udinese (12th) in 10th position.
The last time Como competed in the top tier of Italian football they finished 17th in 2002-03 to make an immediate return to Serie B, having lost both home (2-0) and away (4-0) to Inter, who also triumphed 2-0 in the reverse fixture this term on December 23.
Inzaghi has come in for criticism this season for failing to beat arch-rivals AC Milan on five separate occasions, but Rossoneri legend Filippo 'Pippo' Inzaghi has leapt to the defence of his younger brother.
"Simone is the best coach around," Pippo told Gazzetta dello Sport. "And not just now. He's managed a gruelling season brilliantly.
"And sometimes I have to read criticisms that are absurd. Inter's progressive growth is a manifesto of Simone's work. A superlative coach in technical terms, but also a man who's very good at reading the minds and hearts of 25 different guys."
Fabregas has praised the influence that Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni have on Inter, admitting he's learned a lot from watching the defensive duo in action.
"Inter has this very important mobility. I study Bastoni, Acerbi a lot, and how they marshal the backline. There is a lot to learn from how Inter play," the Spaniard told DAZN.
"I like to see how the young players play, with personality. I wanted to learn from both of them."
