Real Sociedad will look to end their cup hangover when they welcome Real Betis to the Reale Arena in San Sebastian for a La Liga clash on the night of Saturday 9 May 2026, kick-off at 21:00.
La Real’s form has taken a nosedive ever since securing the Copa del Rey (with a triumph over Atletico Madrid last month) and its associated UEFA Europa League berth, picking up just one of their last nine available points.
They were beaten 1-0 away at Sevilla last weekend to leave them in ninth place – four points off the top six, which would have been their targeted finish at the start of the season.
Betis are finishing the season in direct contrast to their hosts as, since their elimination from the Europa League, they have picked up seven of their last nine available points as they relentlessly defend their fifth-place position.
Two wins from the final four rounds should be enough to secure passage to next season’s UEL or potentially even the Champions League should Spain win an additional spot.
Los Verdiblancos manager Manuel Pellegrini recently praised Moroccan star Ebde Ezzalzouli for his key role in the team’s form: “When you have a decisive player like him, everything becomes easier; 23 contributions this season demonstrates his quality. I am very happy to have him with us, and I hope he stays for as long as possible.”
In head-to-head stats, Real Sociedad and Real Betis have met in 119 matches across all competitions. La Reale have claimed 46 wins compared to 42 for Los Verdiblancos, while 31 games have been drawn.
The teams last met in La Liga in September 2025, with Betis triumphing 3-1 at La Cartuja Stadium thanks to strikes from Cucho Hernandez and Pablo Forbals, as well as an own goal from Alex Remiro.
