Suzuki rider Joan Mir will be keen to secure his maiden victory of the season by winning the French Grand Prix on October 11.

The Spanish star has been one of the most consistent riders in the current campaign having second in his last two races.

Mir finished second in the recent Catalan Grand Prix having secured a runner-up spot in the Austrian Grand Prix and Emilia Romagna and Rimini's Coast Grand Prix.

Yamaha rider Fabian Quartararo walked away victorious after clinching the recent Catalan Grand Prix title.

Mir's teammate Alex Rins secured a third spot finish as Suzuki enjoyed a good weekend in Catalonia, Spain.

Quartararo is now sitting at the top of the riders' standings followed by Mir and Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales respectively.

Mir is only eight points behind Quartararo and he will move to the top of the standings if he wins this weekend's French Grand Prix.

The 23-year-old insists that it is too early to consider himself a MotoGP title favourite despite his consistency in this season.

"It's too early to say now," Mir said when speaking to the media after the Catalan Grand Prix.

"Of course, we are more or less the constant riders on the grid and for sure on the classification we are really close.

"It's true that there are a lot of riders that are so fast and I think there's a lot of championship in front of us, a lot of points to give and a lot of riders that are really, really strong."

Yamaha are sitting at the top of the Manufacturers' Championship standings with 163 points.

Ducati and Suzuki are placed second and third with 126 and 113 points respectively on the standings.
