Napoli will look to keep up their impressive form early in the campaign when they head to Stadio Ciro Vigorito for a clash with Benevento, set for Sunday 25 October at 15:00. The match is one of 10 in Round 5 of the 2020-21 Serie A season spread over 24-26 October 2020.

Benevento continued their up-and-down start to the season when they suffered a 5-2 loss away to Roma last weekend, with manager Filippo Inzaghi insisting that his side deserved more from their trip to the capital.

“Coming to the Olimpico and having 10 shots on goal, playing at least 70 minutes on level terms, that’s a good thing. I think the 5-2 result is harsh, but I’ll keep the performance,” he explained. “Clearly, some of our players are in their Serie A debut season, so there are going to be errors, but the fact we can take the lead away to Roma, fight back to 2-2, go close to 3-3 and never give in, I’ll take that.”

Napoli have enjoyed a fine start to the season and clicked into top gear last weekend when they thumped the highly-rated Atalanta 4-1 at home, with goals from Hirving Lozano (two), Matteo Politano and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

"I'm happy for Chucky's brace, but Osimhen's goal makes me happy because he hadn't scored [in Serie A] so far and he deserved it for the hard work done for the team," said Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso. "Victor was my wish and I thank the President for having satisfied me. It wasn't easy but we have bought a player who is very important to us."

In head-to-head stats, Benevento and Napoli have met in just five matches across all competitions. The Neapolitans have claimed four wins compared to one for the Stregoni, with zero games ending in draws.

The teams last met in Serie A in the 2017-18 season, with Napoli completing an emphatic league ‘double’ by winning 6-0 at the Stadio San Paulo and 2-0 at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito.
