Group L - Matchday 6

Nigeria v Lesotho

Lagos, Nigeria
Tuesday, 30 March 2021
Kick-off is at 17h00

Nigeria will square off with Lesotho in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier Group L match on March 30.

This will be the fourth meeting between the Super Eagles and the Crocodiles across all competitions.

Nigeria boast an unbeaten record against Lesotho having won all three of their games against the Crocodiles.

The last meeting between the two teams was on 17 November 2019.

The Super Eagles overcame the Crocodiles 4-2 in the 2022 AFCON qualifier Group L match which was played at the Setsoto Stadium.

Nigeria are set to take on their West African rivals, Benin away on March 27, before they lock horns with Lesotho at home.

The West African giants are sitting at the top of the group standings - a point above second-placed Benin with two matches left.

Nigeria need two points from their last two games against Benin and Lesotho in order to qualify for the AFCON finals which will be hosted by Cameroon.

The Super Eagles are undefeated in their last four home matches across all competitions.

They have recorded three consecutive victories and one draw which came against Sierra Leone in their last home game in November 2020.

Alex Iwobi, the Nigeria attacker, is confident that they will perform well against both Lesotho and Benin and qualify for next year's tournament.

"The positive you can take is we are still on course to be top of the table," Iwobi said.

"So we are confident we have the quality to do so and put 100% for 90 minutes this time, so we can qualify. The opportunity I was given last time to be involved in that competition.

"I want that feeling again. If you are in a competition you want to win it, [and] I believe us players feel we have the quality to do so," he added.

"We'd like to play in the best competitions and win them, so we have to prove that against Lesotho and Benin."
