Leicester take aim at the Gunners

2019/20 Premier League

Round 12

8-10 November 2019

Leicester City will look to further impose themselves in the upper reaches of the Premier League table when they host Arsenal at King Power Stadium on Saturday 9 November 2019, kick-off at 18:30 CAT. The clash is one of 10 in the 12th round of England’s top flight this coming weekend.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery

Leicester continued their excellent form in the Premier League with a 2-0 win away to Crystal Palace this past weekend, with the result ensuring the Foxes remain in third place on the log – level on points with heavyweights Chelsea but ranked above them thanks to a superior goal difference.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is downplaying suggestions that his side can be considered title contenders. “The team is playing well but we are certainly not getting carried away and will not try to give the players any pressure,” he explained, later adding: “We’ve had a very good start, some very good performances and different wins and we are constantly looking to improve. With ten games to go, let’s see where we are.”

Arsenal suffered further frustration in their attempt to rise up the Premier League table when they were held 1-1 at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers this past weekend. The result has left manager Unai Emery fighting for his job, according to the English media.

“I feel every time my responsibility to work and to come back from the result with the next matches,” said the Spaniard. “I am frustrated with the result and also because we lost two very good opportunities at home against two teams who we didn't win against last season either. But I think the players tried and worked (hard).”

Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi

In head-to-head stats, Leicester and Arsenal have met in 102 previous matches. The Gunners have claimed 50 wins compared to 20 for the Foxes, while 32 games have been drawn.

The teams’ Premier League meetings last season saw Arsenal win 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in October 2018, but Leicester claimed revenge with a 3-0 victory in the return game at King Power Stadium in April 2019. The last four meetings of the Gunners and the Foxes have produced a total of 18 goals.
