The Gunners slumped to a 4-0 loss at Liverpool over the past weekend to remain three points off the top four. Defeat ended an eight-game unbeaten run in the league for the north London club.

"It (Anfield) is one of the toughest places to play football in Europe and in the moment something goes a little bit wrong or the timing is not right, you get punished and they deserved to win the game," Arteta said.

"I don't like learning like that, but there's a lot of learning that we can take from the game for sure. One of the biggest learnings after a disappointing result is to focus tomorrow on the next one.

"We'll look at what we should have done better and why we got punished the way we did and after that put our energy and focus on the next game," he added.

Newcastle remained winless this season and fell to the foot of the league standings after a 3-3 draw with newly-promoted Brentford, in Eddie Howe's first game in charge of the Magpies. They have yet to register a win after 12 rounds of fixtures this season.

Arsenal took six points off Newcastle last season. The Gunners won 3-0 at home and 2-0 away with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on target in both matches.
