After securing second-place in the 2023 Formula 1 Driver’s standing, Sergio Perez will look to the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as a chance to win his third race of the season.
Red Bull’s dominance has seen Max Verstappen and Perez achieve a one-two finish in the Driver’s championship for the first time in their 19-year history.
Heading into the season finale, the Mexican driver has two wins under his belt this year after claiming first place in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.
In what was one of Perez's better races in the current campaign, the defensive technician battled with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix. While Perez was set for a second-placed finish in Vegas, Leclerc managed to produce a gutsy overtake on the final lap as the Red Bull racer finished third on the podium.

Perez believed that the Safety Car played a major role in Red Bull’s strong finish to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, given Ferrari’s pace during crucial phases of the race.
Also, the street circuit saw three different leaders during the latter stages of the race, as Leclerc, Perez and Verstappen scrapped for the number one spot.
Reflecting on Leclerc's brilliant overtake after Turn 12, Perez also believed that the Monacan avenged his 2020 final lap overtake at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix.

"Once the Safety Car came out, that really put us in contention for the victory," Perez told media including RacingNews365.
"In the initial laps I went past Charles relatively easy, but then I just couldn't pull away from him.
"Unfortunately, I think we were just carrying a little bit too much rear wing on my car, and my top speed was quite a bit down.
"It was really not nice to lose a place to Charles there in the end. He got me back from Turkey 2020. It is what it is.”
