Matchday 14

Cadiz v Real Madrid

Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla

Cadiz, Spain

Sunday 26 November 2023

Kick-off is at 18h30

Cadiz will look to claim an upset win over Real Madrid in a La Liga clash set for Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla on the evening of Sunday 26 November 2023.

Current Form

Cadiz come into this match on the back of a 1-0 loss away to Getafe on November 6. The Yellow Submarine are just three points above the relegation zone and have failed to win any of their last eight league matches (as well as their last three home matches).

Real have racked up eight goals in their last two matches, with a 3-0 win over Sporting Braga in the UEFA Champions League on November 8 followed three days later by a 5-1 triumph over Valencia in which Dani Carvajal, Vinicius Junior (two) and Rodrygo (two) shared the goals.

Los Blancos are unbeaten in their last five away matches across all competitions.

Team News

Neither team has any suspension concerns.

Cadiz will be without Martín Calderón (cruciate ligament tear), while Real’s injury list includes Jude Bellingham (doubtful, shoulder injury), Arda Güler (unknown), Aurélien Tchouaméni (fatigue fracture), Thibaut Courtois (cruciate ligament tear) and Éder Militão (cruciate ligament tear).

Quotes

“I was overwhelmed because I tried in every way but it didn’t work,” said Real’s Brazilian attacker Rodrygo, who struggled to find his scoring form until just before the international break.

“Now everything is going well for me and I am back. I think it was my fault. It was difficult for me to play in the new position, as a nine, but now the coach gives me more freedom to go to the wings and so I have played better in the last few games. If the coach thinks I can play as a nine, I can do it.”

Head-to-Head

In head-to-head terms, Cadiz and Real have met in nine matches across all competitions dating back as far as 2005. Los Blancos have claimed five wins compared to two for the Yellow Submarine, while two games have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was in April 2023, with Real winning 2-0 away from home thanks to goals from Nacho and Marco Asensio.
