Max Verstappen will be eager to become the first driver to win the Qatar Grand Prix three times in a row and boost his Formula One world title aspirations.

The Red Bull Racing driver secured a podium spot at the Las Vegas Grand Prix on 22 November, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Verstappen started in second grid and he went on to win the race, earning 25 points. He has also now achieved 125 podiums and 69 wins in Formula One
Formula One title ambitions
The newly crowned Best Driver ESPY Award champion still placed third in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 366 points.
However, Verstappen is now level on points behind second-placed Oscar Piastri of McLaren and 24 points behind leader Lando Norris of McLaren.
Why Verstappen could win the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix
The reigning Formula One world champion has been unstoppable and unbeatable at the Qatar Grand Prix over the years - winning back-to-back races in 2023 and 2024 after finishing second in 2021.
Verstappen has hit form, having won two of the last four races, while also finishing third in the other two events and he is a clear favourite to win this weekend's Qatar Grand Prix.
What did he say?
“It is still a big gap [in the title race]. We are trying to maximise what we have, and for us that was winning this weekend," Verstappen said ahead of the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix.
"In the coming races we will try again to win, and after Abu Dhabi we will see where we are. But I am very proud of everyone. We have had ups and downs and tough times, but also really beautiful moments. We have learned a lot this season, which is valuable for the coming years.
"We have to cling onto that and keep improving so we can come back stronger next year and fight for the championship from the start. For now we will enjoy this, and next weekend we will see what we can do.”
