2025-26 Spanish La Liga

Matchday 14

Girona v Real Madrid

Estadio Municipal de Montilivi

Girona, Spain

Sunday, 30 November 2025

Kick-off is at 21h00

La Liga leaders Real Madrid will be seeking their first win in three games when they head to Catalonia for a clash with Girona at Montilivi on Sunday, November 23 in the late kick-off.

Los Blancos have opened the door for their top-four rivals to get closer in the title race after slipping up in their last two matches, while Barcelona, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid all picked up maximum points.

Xabi Alonso's side were held to a goalless stalemate by Rayo Vallecano on November 9 and they needed a late equaliser to clinch a 2-2 draw with 10-man Elche last time out.

The Blaugrana have now closed to within a point of their arch-rivals in second place, with the Yellow Submarine and Los Colchoneros a further two and three points back respectively.

Girona are struggling at the other end of the table after winning just two of their opening 13 league encounters, although they are kept in the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

A 1-1 draw with Real Betis on November 23 extended their unbeaten run to two matches and further raised morale for Michel's side, who beat Alaves 1-0 earlier this month to climb out of the basement up to 18th position.

Alonso praised Real's never-say-die attitude after Jude Bellingham scored in the 87th minute to rescue a point at Estadio Martinez Valero and he wants to see a response from his players in Catalonia.

"The team never gave up. We're still competing. We know that the context of each game is different," the Spaniard said.

"Obviously, the result could be better. We're aware of that and we're self-critical, but the direction is clear, the spirit remains good and we have to respond in the face of adversity.

"This is Real Madrid and every unfavourable result attracts criticism, which we have to live with. We want to improve. The team never gave up."
