Real Madrid will be looking to momentarily extend their lead at the
La Liga summit when they make the short trip to Vallecas for a derby date with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, November 9.
With Barcelona not in action until a couple of hours later, Los Blancos have the chance to open up an eight-point gap on their title rivals at the top of the table.
Xabi Alonso's side maintained their five-point cushion to the Blaugrana with a 4-0 rout of Valencia on November 1 which was their fourth straight win since Atletico Madrid ended their perfect start to the season.
This will be Real's third derby of the campaign, having beaten Getafe 1-0 prior to their El Clasico victory over Barca on October 26.
Los Franjirrojos had built up a head of steam last month after a poor run of results in September which saw them pick up just one point out of a possible 12.
Inigo Perez's side went unbeaten in October, winning all three of their matches without conceding a single goal as they pulled five points clear of the relegation zone.
However, their fine streak came to an end with a heavy 4-0 defeat to Villarreal on November 1, leaving Rayo level with Elche (10th) and Athletic Bilbao (12th) on 14 points in 11th place.
Alonso described their big win over Los Ches as a "complete performance" and believes their energetic start set a tone for the rest of the contest.
"The team's rhythm is good. We didn't concede a goal, another clean sheet. It was a well-rounded, serious match with excellent energy," the Spaniard said.
"We started very energetically, with a lot of movement and moved the ball well. We won the ball back quickly and took the lead. Then we managed everything well and, overall, it was a complete performance."
