While Francesco Bagnaia was unable to finish the Malaysia MotoGP inspite of an impressive Sprint race showing, the Italian will hope to get back on track during the final two races of the campaign.
After pointless outings in his previous four races, Bagnaia went on to lead every lap at the Malaysia MotoGP sprint race following a rapid start off the line.
Bagnaia once again got the final race on the front foot but was eventually toppled by Alex Marquez within the first two laps. However, Bagnaia then encountered an issue on his bike during the final two laps, which gifted Pedro Acosta and Joan Mir a second and third place finish respectively.
As it stands, Bagnaia is fourth on the Rider’s standings on 286 points after collecting two wins and eight podiums along the way.
With only his Sprint race win to laud, Bagnaia expressed that he was ‘scared’ at the times his Ducati was recording on the Sepang Circuit.
“Honestly, I was quite scared, but then I looked at the times, and I was quite surprised. I was super-fast,” Bagnaia said.
“There are tracks and tracks. Honestly, here, the grip level is very low, so to give the shock more movement [suspension travel] is better.
“In other tracks where the grip is good, without the ride-height device you are accelerating much less.”
