Rafael Nadal will look for a strong showing at Wimbledon 2019 when the year’s third Grand Slam is held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London from 1-14 July.
Nadal is a two-time Wimbledon champion, though his last triumph at SW19 arrived back in 2010. Almost a decade later, the Spanish tennis legend will feel that he has a chance to win his third grass-court Grand Slam title.
The 33-year-old comes into the tournament on the back of his record-extending 12
th French Open title at Roland Garros. Nadal was head and shoulders above all challengers in Paris, and comfortably defeated Dominic Thiem in the final.
At last year’s Wimbledon, Nadal got as far as the semifinals before he was beaten in an epic five-setter by old rival and eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
Nadal is seeded second for the 2019 Wimbledon tournament, and once again is likely to have Djokovic and Roger Federer as his main rivals.
Yet Thiem, Kei Nishikori, Alexander Zverev and other young guns will be hoping that they can get the better of the three veterans and signal the start of a new era in men’s tennis.
