Jon Rahm will carry Team Europe's hopes as they look to successfully defend the Ryder Cup at the Whistling Straits this week.

The Spanish star qualified for the European team for a second successive time after producing arguably the best golf of any European during the qualifying period - topping both points lists.

Rahm, who is currently placed at the top of the official world golf rankings, collected his first Major Championship at the 2021 US Open and recorded a further 13 top ten finishes.

The man nicknamed Rahmbo made his Ryder Cup debut in Paris, France in 2018 after automatically qualifying for Thomas Bjorn's European team.

While Rahmbo narrowly lost his first two matches, he impressibly went on to defeat Tiger Woods in the Sunday Singles matches 2&1.

Rahm, who is based in the USA, ensured that all players won at least one point for Team Europe over the three days.

A more experienced Rahm could be a European to be feared at Whistling Straits having won the PGA Player of the Year award, Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award.

The 26-year-old has stated that he is improving after struggling with a stomach ailment last week as he prepares for the Ryder Cup.

"I was having a hard time focusing given the fact that I haven't had a solid meal since Tuesday morning," Rahm said.

"Maybe having a little bit too much good rich food Monday and Tuesday just did it for my stomach.

"I heard there's a stomach virus going on, but I feel OK. I've dealt with worse. A lot of people have played with worse. Tiger Woods won a US Open with a broken knee, so I'm OK."

Team Europe members: Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Shane Lowry, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland, Lee Westwood and Bernd Wiesberger.
