Oscar Piastri will be eager to become the second Australian racing driver to win the
Italian Grand Prix after Daniel Ricciardo, who won the race in 2021.

The McLaren driver secured a podium spot at the Dutch Grand Prix on 31 August, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Piastri started on the first grid and he went on to win the race, which saw him accumulate 25 points, while also achieving his 23rd podium in Formula One.
Formula One title ambitions
The 2025 Best Driver ESPY Award nominee is still placed at the top of the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 309 points.
Piastri is now 34 points ahead of second-placed Lando Norris of McLaren and 104 points clear of third-placed Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
Why Piastri could win the 2025 Italian Grand Prix
Piastri came close to winning last season's Italian Grand Prix as he finished second behind champion Charles Leclerc of Ferrari in what was his second race in Italy's grand race.
The 2017 F4 British Championship winner has won two of the last three races in the current campaign and he will be confident of strengthening his World Drivers' Championship lead by winning the Italian Grand Prix.
What did he say?
"I'm really pleased to come away with the win. I felt in control throughout the race and was able to push and save where I needed to," Piastri said after winning the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix.
"However, it was incredibly unfortunate for Lando as you never want to see your teammate DNF, or gain points in that way. I am very satisfied with the job we've done and all of the work to ensure we could maximise everything around here, improving everywhere.
"Thank you to the team for their work. We've still got a long way to go."
