The Europa League champions snapped a three-game losing streak with a hard fought 1-0 win over Osasuna before the international break, courtesy of a penalty from Lucas Ocampos.

Los Nervionenses head into this weekend's round of fixtures in 12th spot on the log standings as they aim to juggle a congested schedule, and head coach Julen Lopetegui has called for more protection for his players from those in charge.

“The artist must be taken care of,” Lopetegui said following their win at home to Osasuna. “You can’t kill the cow – you have to take care of the players. It’s incomprehensible that we had to play again less than 72 hours against an opponent that had been preparing for the game for eight days – we should have played them [on Sunday].”

Sevilla midfielder Fernando believes a lack of goals has been the main reason for his club's slow start to the campaign.

“I think we are playing well but we’re not scoring goals,” the Brazilian told Radio Sevilla. “Last year we didn’t dominate but we scored more goals.

“I think we can get through this difficult time. If we pass through this period, I think we’ll reach the final stretch of the season with possibilities. The only problem now is finding the goal. If you look at our games against Eibar and Athletic Club, we played well but didn’t win. It takes a bit of luck, and I think [our luck] will change.”

Celta Vigo went into the international break this month following a 1-1 draw away to Elche which extended the club's winless run to seven matches. Célticos currently occupy 17th spot on the LaLiga standings and will need a change in approach if they are to avoid another campaign fighting at the wrong end of the league table.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw. Denis Suarez cancelled out Franco Vazguez's opener.
