Spanish La Liga season continues this weekend with a trio of fixtures on Friday night leading a line-up that is set to deliver another footballing feast to viewers across the continent & around the globe.

Two sides still seeking their first victories of the new season, Villarreal and Girona, go head-to-head at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Friday evening. The Yellow Submarines squandered a lead on the opening day, losing 2-1 to Real Sociedad before picking up their first point, playing out to a 0-0 draw at Sevilla. The Gironistes on the other hand, after their goalless stalemate against Valladolid a fortnight ago, opened the scoring against Real Madrid this past weekend before giving away penalties either side of half-time in an eventual 4-1 defeat.

Little Leganes are looking for their first league win against mighty Real Madrid. In four previous encounters, Los Blancos have notched up four wins, scoring 12 goals in the process, despite keeping just one clean sheet. Los Pepineros, however, stunned their more fancied opponents when they clashed in the Copa Del Rey in January, overturning a 1-0 first-leg home defeat by beating Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeau a week later, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in their 90-year history.
Huesca are preparing for the mammoth task that lies ahead of them – a daunting trip to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona. Competing in their maiden spell in Spain’s top tier and boasting one of the smallest squads in La Liga, manager Leo Franco has overseen a dream start. Two first half goals ensured opening day success against Eibar before a thrilling 2-2 draw saw them come from two goals behind to earn a share of the spoils more recently against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona look far from their brilliant best although a 3-0 win at Alaves was followed up by a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Valladolid as Ernesto Valverde and co continue on their quest to reclaiming their La Liga crown in what will be their first ever match against Huesca on Sunday.
